On Wednesday night, it snowed here. In fact, it snowed so much that you couldn’t see the ground at all (which is saying something). Stephanie (my officemate) and I were in our office planning our lesson for the next day, and it was very tedious. I suggested that, no matter what point we were at, we should go out and build a snowman at 11:00 p.m.

At 11:00 p.m. Steph and I tramped outside to begin our snowman. We were wearing skirts and completely improper shoes for snow-walking, but this tiny fact did not deter us. After some consideration, we thought of the perfect spot for our creation–in the grass just outside our office window. I called Lincoln and invited him to come witness this remarkable feat of engineering and hilarity (since Steph and I didn’t stop laughing the whole time). He came and observed the proceedings, after getting pelted with a few snowballs.

After a few false starts–in other words, the base of our snowman fell apart a couple of times–we got our snowman together. The snow really was lovely packing snow, so except for our incompetence, the building was quite easy. Our man came together in about half an hour. Then, after we were done, Stephanie decided to do a snow angel (in a skirt), and she did.

When we got back inside, our clothes were soaked and our heads were dripping wet, but the break from lesson planning and the fun we had was definitely worth every wet drop.

P.S. Our snowman stayed “alive” for one whole day before it was mostly melted. However, as I write this post, it’s snowing again, so maybe the new snow will give us opportunity to build a new snowman.
