Hiking at Table Rock
This past Saturday Abby and I went to the Greenville library book sale and then went hiking at Table Rock.
We arrived at the book sale before the doors opened at 10:00 a.m., so we joined the line of fifty people or so. Abby found some children’s books for fifty cents or a dollar apiece. My find was Will and Ariel Durant’s The Story of Civilization. About half the volumes were brand new, and the other half were slightly used. I started reading The Story of Civilization in high school, but I’ll probably start over at the beginning.
After leaving the book sale, we headed for Table Rock State Park, in Pickens County, South Carolina. I had directions from Google Maps that seemed pretty clear–except for one turn. We drove for at least an hour trying to discover which road the directions meant until we became so frustrated that we stopped for lunch and gas. After lunch, I decided that we were going to take another road that we knew led to Jones Gap and Caesar’s Head. If we found a place to hike, so be it; if not, we at least would have a pleasant drive in the country. We quickly discovered that the road we took was the road we should have taken from the beginning. It’s my fault for not having a map of South Carolina in my car.
We had a good time hiking at Table Rock. You can see photos below.

Well, it looks like we weren’t the only ones out driving around on Saturday. We took an excursion up in that same area :D. We have pictures on our website, too. What a pleasant way to relax.
