She Said Yes
Today Abby and I went back to Paris Mountain. This time, we got engaged.
Abby and I spent the afternoon helping at the wedding of Meg and Duncan Johnson. After the wedding was over, we drove to Paris Mountain. Thunderstorms threatened, so we stayed close to shelter, sitting on a rock next to a brook. I read to Abby from a children’s book, which she had given to me for Christmas. On the last page, she found a card for her to read. The card asked her to marry me, and she consented. I then gave her a ring. Because the weather had improved, we went hiking until it was nearly dark. Then we called my family, and went to Abby’s home to be with hers.
Please see the gallery of photos from the evening.

What perfect timing–a wonderful new daughter-to-be for Mothers’ Day! Now that’s a gift!!! I am so very happy for you both. I think I speak for a lot of your faithful “gentle readers” that this is the kind of posting we like to read. May we please hear more of the new adventures of Lincoln and Abby.

I agree with Tammy. I commented many times at church this morning that it seemed a wonderful Mother’s Day present to be getting another wonderful son. Moms are all alike.

i just have a random question. what’s the frog got to do with getting engaged? is it the “frog prince”? just kind of wondering. it made me laugh, though. :)

Nothing at all–it was just an interesting part of our hike. I get excited about wildlife, especially unusual ones (like red frogs), and Lincoln is sweet enough to humor me and take pictures of them. :)

oh, ok. :) that explains it. ;)

Best wishes to you both!
When Rachel and I were dating, frogs were part of our courtship. We had frog note paper, and the first toy I bought for Austin was a squeaky frog. Austin always liked frogs and had various frog pets through the years. Unfortunately, frogs don’t have much of a life span. Ribbit.

I am very happy for you two! I also wondered if the frog was part of a before/after frog prince story. I thought it was a funny picture for that reason. Congratulations on your engagement!

This past Saturday, May 12, Lincoln asked Abby if she would marry him - she said “yesâ€. Tammy and I are happy beyond words. A few weeks ago I wrote to Abby expressing the joy I had in looking at pictures of the two of them, obviously in love. I always enjoy watching young love - it is the best of all loves. Our prayer for Lincoln and Abby is that they will always know the elation of young love; that they will always be able to say, “this is my beloved, this is my friend.â€

Dear Abby and Lincoln,
So happy to hear the good news! It was a shock and brought tears to my eyes since I hadn’t kept up with Abby’s love-life!! Can I help with the bridal shower? :-)
Love and prayers and best wishes,
Mrs. Jo

Well, God bless to both of you. After nearly five years’ empirical research, I can say that the statement that marriage only gets better with time is entirely true.
Ah, what will the Mullen household be like? Will every family plan end with the statement, “I am ready for cross examination”?
Grace and peace,
Mike

Lincoln and Abby,
I think you guys are adorable!! Although, Abby, I really can’t forgive you for leading me astray with your “red herring.”
Best wishes and much happiness to you both — remember to keep things simple because you’ll have plenty of complications later in life. :)

Wahoo, congrats!! I was wondering when that was going to happen=) What a great day Abby to see one friend get married and then get engaged yourself. And you thought this would just be another regular summer working at the Press:? I can only imagine what was going through your mind Lincoln through the reception. Of course I had no idea what was ahead for you two when I saw you at the reception. I’m excited for you both! The Lord is so good and wise to bring you together. I Cor. 15: 1-7 (frogs are good=)
Best wishes,
Rachel

Wow! I’m happy for you both! :) The tullips have just come out here in Quebec, the trees are just budding. Seems like going back in time. I get to see spring all over again.
I’ll be looking forward to hearing more about the summer trip out west, and other adventures. :)
