Sunrise in Carriacou
Abby is in Carriacou and sometimes sends out photos of her journeys. I liked this photo of a Kayak sunrise in particular, and she thought that you, gentle reader, might like it too.

Abby, are you helping out at the Harbor Light? My brother and I went on a mission trip to Carriacou in early 2000. He helped build the retaining wall, and I helped with laundry and food, and wound up painting the Harbor Light design on the side of the diesel tank there as well. :o) I hope you enjoy your time in Carriacou! :o)

Ha! I just figured out who Abby is. Now I feel silly for not thinking of Abby *Garland* in Carriacou; it makes perfect sense. :o) Hi Abby! :o)

Yes, Vanessa, it’s me. :) I remember when you came down here. I have more pics too, if you can convince Lincoln to post them. :)

Abby, I had assumed you were on vacation with your family, but Vanessa’s comments “paint” a different picture! If Lincoln wouldn’t mind his blog being hijacked, and you have the time, would you tell a little more about your trip to Carriacou?

Hijacked schmijacked. :) No, I’m not on vacation. I’ve been here for just a little under three weeks, and I’m sitting in the radio station Harbour Light of the Windwards right now waiting for an online database to start working so I can do some data entry, so I have time. :)
My dad, brother, and I came down on the 27th of June to work here for several weeks. My dad is the president of the mission board that runs the Harbour Light, and so he came down to “check up” on the HLW, as well as to speak at the first secondary graduation of the Harbour Light of the Windwards. Anthony and I came down to help out in whatever way possible. Anthony has been doing a lot of maintenance around the station and the mission house, and I’ve been working at the station doing data entry and program work. Dad left last week, and Anthony and I are here for another week, approximately; we’re leaving Carriacou on July 25.

Oh, one prayer request. On Sunday afternoon, Joseph Cornelius, the two-year-old son of the station manager, fell into the cistern at the mission house. Bro. Randy Cornelius, his dad, jumped in after him and got him out. Joey hit his head pretty hard in the fall. Randy hurt his feet pretty badly jumping in after him.
Joey and Randy went to Grenada yesterday to get checked out at the St. Augustine Medical Center in St. George’s. They discovered that Randy cracked his left heel and bruised his right heel. They put a cast on his left heel. Joey has a skull fracture. It’s not extremely serious, because there was no compression into the brain, but he’s having a CAT scan this morning.
Please pray for Joey and Randy as they heal. Pray for the other 7 children at home, too; Sister Sharlene, their mother, is in the States taking a 2-week graduate education course at BJU.

Well, I must say, Abby, laundry never looked so good. Since this site has already been hijacked, I thought I’d get on board. May the Lord bless you in a special way as you learn from Him and serve Him in Carriacou and leave with wonderful memories of that time shared with your family.

Thank you, Abby. I’ve looked up the website for HLW to learn even more about the ministry. I will pray for the Cornelius family!

Just a quick update: Joey and Randy returned to Carriacou tonight on the boat. They are both doing well. Randy has a cast on his left foot, and Joey has a crack in his head from the top of his head to his ear. They are both active and OK, though. There have been many providences through the whole situation. Thank you for praying, and please, don’t stop! :) (If you want a much longer version of this, email me. You can get my address from Lincoln.)

Since we now have two threads of comments going at once on this post, I have given Emi her own post. Abby, this post is for you; Emi, that post is for you. Gentle readers, please discuss these ladies on the proper posts. :-)

Of course I have to join this long string of commentators because this is my home (which I am missing very much). When Abby was in Carriacou I laughed at her taking all those zillions of pics of things I see every day. I am eating my words now. I’m so glad she took them, so I can look at them and remember Carriacou and all those beautiful scenes I took for granted.
