I really like what you wrote. It seems the best understanding of a person would come if they left a lot of writings behind and not just “a few”. The writings couldn’t just be pure academic things, but personal, from the heart and truthful. So, keep writing, my son, so that those now and in the future will truly know you. It seems, too, in writing one can express things that are hard to speak. Keep a journal. Write a lot of letters to your mother, as those will sure to be preserved. And then there are love letters…
Did you know that Louisa May Alcott who journaled most of her life, destroyed most of those personal writings before she died. How sad for it definitely leaves gaps about the person and leads to people making up things. I think the truth is best.
