Welcome to ISTORIA
Welcome to my weblog. Perhaps you are wondering what ISTORIA means and why this site exists.
ISTORIA means research. In their lexicon, Liddell and Scott define it as such, and they also define it as a “written account of one’s inquiries, narrative, history.” It is the word from which is derived the English word history. It is the word that Herodotus used when he wrote at the beginning of his History, “Here are presented the results of the inquiry carried out by Herodotus of Halicarnassus,” or “These are the researches of Herodotus of Halicarnassus, which he publishes.”
Defining ISTORIA should explain at least in part the purpose for this weblog. Its purpose is to record the inquiries, narrative, and history of my life–at least as much of it as I’m willing to publish. Perhaps it will turn out to be just another unnecessary weblog among the millions of unnecessary weblogs. But perhaps it will be of some value to family and friends.
“These are the researches of Lincoln Mullen . . .”
