New Website

I finally uploaded the new website for http://www.lincolnmullen.com/. It’s not fancy, but it’s serviceable. It doesn’t have a lot of content, but it does have a few papers and permanent links to the photo galleries.

Intercollegiate Debate Gallery

Intercollegiate Debate Team, Nationals at Kankakee, Spring 2003I’ve posted a gallery of intercollegiate debate photos from tournaments from the fall of 2002 to the spring of 2004. I didn’t take any of the pictures; I’ve only compiled them from others and tried to touch them up a bit. If you’re wondering why many of the pictures are of David Mathues, it’s because he was always in the final round.

Moose Hunting Trip

Moose huntThis spring my father and I traveled to Pittsburg, New Hampshire, just south of Canada, to hunt moose (with a camera). The thirty miles south of the Canadian border are known as “Moose Alley.” We looked for moose in several marshy areas off of the many forest roads and found many tracks and droppings. Total moose count was nine: seven cows and two bulls. We also climbed Mt. Magalloway (3,336 ft.), hiked to Garfield Falls, and shot the beer cans we got from our neighbor in the cabin next door. You can see pictures of the trip at the moose hunting gallery.

Self-Portrait

Self-portraitI generally despise pictures of myself and have no intention of posting any on this website. However, I thought that some might want to see this self-portrait. I’m carrying a pack, in case you’re wondering why I’m lopsided.

Welcome to ISTORIA

Welcome to my weblog. Perhaps you are wondering what ISTORIA means and why this site exists.

ISTORIA means research. In their lexicon, Liddell and Scott define it as such, and they also define it as a “written account of one’s inquiries, narrative, history.” It is the word from which is derived the English word history. It is the word that Herodotus used when he wrote at the beginning of his History, “Here are presented the results of the inquiry carried out by Herodotus of Halicarnassus,” or “These are the researches of Herodotus of Halicarnassus, which he publishes.”

Defining ISTORIA should explain at least in part the purpose for this weblog. Its purpose is to record the inquiries, narrative, and history of my life–at least as much of it as I’m willing to publish. Perhaps it will turn out to be just another unnecessary weblog among the millions of unnecessary weblogs. But perhaps it will be of some value to family and friends.

“These are the researches of Lincoln Mullen . . .”
